The Irvine Police Department relies heavily on this courthouse because all of their cases are sent here to be prosecuted, whether it is for criminal or traffic law. You will notice as you walk into the courthouse there will be a few officers waiting for and they will have you walk through a metal detector.

This is to make sure that no on entering the courthouse has any type of weapon on them. Nobody is permitted to walk through the front doors with any type of weapon no matter how harmless it seems. The courthouse has its very own police department inside the courthouse for emergencies. The police at the courthouse also act as the general security and they are all officers that have been sworn in. Do not mistake them for regular security guards because they have all of the training of every officer out in the field and are prepared for any situation that may occur while the courthouse is open. They will also supervise all of the inmates that travel here for their court appearance from the Orange County Jail.

The courthouse also relies on the community for its decision-making such as when people are called for jury duty. This is a chance for all members of the community to do their part in the justice system by helping decide on a case and whether the person is guilty or not. The members of the courthouse urge people to visit this courthouse and become more familiar with it and how it works so that you could understand the justice system a little better.
